Heritage High School Sports Medicine
Heritage High School Sports Medicine provides sports injury prevention, treatment and rehabilitation for all student-athletes. Heritage currently has one full time and one part time nationally certified, state licensed athletic trainer, as well as a first responder who cover all junior varsity and varsity sports.
In addition, our certified athletic trainers work very closely with two team physicians, Dr. Mark Burt of Triangle Orthopaedics and Dr. David Becker of Carolina Family Practice and Sports Medicine, to coordinate the best possible care for our student-athletes.
Please feel free to contact Becky Busack, Head Athletic Trainer, with any questions or concerns in regards to the care of your student-athlete.
Heritage High School Sports Medicine Curriculum and Club
Heritage High School offers many opportunities for students to advance their knowledge in the field of sports medicine. Students have the opportunity to enroll in Sports Medicine I, II, or Honors III as an elective course.
These courses cover basic First Aid and CPR and Injury Management. Students will also be given the opportunity to assist with after-school athletic practices and events. We hope to enhance character skills of communication, responsibility and time management through this practicum experience. In addition, a Student Athletic Trainer Program is available for those students wishing to further their commitment to the sports medicine program.
These students commit to working at least one season (fall, winter, spring) with Heritage athletes during practices and games under the supervision of the Heritage Sports Medicine Staff.
