I began my teaching career in 1996 for Durham Public Schools. At Chewning Middle School I was the Assistant Coach for Football, Basketball and Baseball. I did that for 3 years before moving to Daniels Middle School. I became the Athletic Director and Softball coach in my second year at Daniels, 2000-2001. I served as Athletic Director for 16 years and softball coach for 15. In my 2nd year at Pine Hollow I am looking forward to continue the growth and success of our Athletic Department.
Head Football Coach Head Boys Track Coach
I am thankful and excited for the opportunity to open up Pine Hollow Middle School. In 2007, I began my teaching career in New Mexico. After my first year of teaching I got the chance to move to North Carolina. I was fortunate to get a teaching and coaching job at Fuquay-Varina Middle School. After six years I made the move to Durant Road Middle School. Durant has been my home for the last three years, where I became Head Football and Track Coach. I’ve learned so much in my last nine years of coaching and teaching, all of which I’m excited to bring with me to Pine Hollow and continue to grow as an educator and coach!
Girls Track Coach
I began my teaching career in 2011 at East Cary Middle School. My running hobby began in high school when, much like Forrest Gump, one day, for no particular reason, I decided to go for a little run. Although not quick, I learned to enjoy the sport, and ran cross country and played softball in high school. I continued running for fun while in college and after graduation. I coached all 5 years at East Cary, and I'm excited to help Pine Hollow SOAR this inaugural year. Go Pilots!
Girls Softball Coach
I began my teaching career in 2001 at Chowan Middle School located in Edenton, NC. There, I became the softball coach, and fell in love with the game. I coached for three seasons at Chowan Middle before relocating to Wake County. I took a job at Wakefield Middle in 2004, where I met my beautiful wife, and I continued my love for coaching softball. At Wakefield Middle I coached five seasons, before moving up to Wakefield High School. I've spent the last three years being Wakefield High School's head softball coach, where I gained a ton of experience and knowledge. For the first time in school history, we beat our rivals and advanced to the third round of the state play-offs. I look forward to bringing the experience I gained at the high school level, along with the excitement of building a new program, to Pine Hollow Middle. Go Pilots!
"My name is Melissa Yeary and I am a Family & Consumer Science teacher! I have participated in cheerleading since I was old enough to sign up. I was hooked and never missed a season. I cheered through elementary school and then was finally able to cheer for my schools! I cheered in middle school, high school and college. I started coaching at a local middle school while I was in college and only took a few seasons off recently to enjoy time with my babies! They are older now and I am eager to start the cheerleading program here at Pine Hollow Middle School. Go PILOTS!"
Girls and Boys Soccer
I'm excited to join the Pine Hollow coaching staff this spring season! I grew up in Raleigh, NC where I played soccer through CASL until I graduated from Leesville High School. I went on to continue my athletic career as a Division I athlete at Old Dominion University as a member of the nationally ranked sailing team. I've assistant coached middle school soccer, varsity men's and women's soccer, and the varsity swim team at Cape Fear Academy i'm Wilmington, NC. It's going to be a great season at Pine Hollow!
