Coaches training information and links

All coaches must annually complete the three following training classes (give at copy of the certificates to the AD), attend the mandatory coaches meeting and update their sport specific EAP (give a copy to the AD) before tryouts can be held

Coaches meeting dates: 

Middle School Coaches/Officials Workshop (1 hour) – All Sessions at Martin MS

Cheer- August 22 4:00PM Followed by class for coaches new to WCPSS at 5:00

Volleyball- August 23 @ 4:00 PM         

Soccer- August 23 @ 5:00 PM         

Football- August 24 @ 4:00 PM         

Basketball- November 7 @ 4:00 PM         

Softball- February 6 @ 4:00 PM

Track & Field- February 8 @ 4:00 PM

CHEER- In addition to the 3 required training links above coaches must complete the WCPSS cheer coaches program below: 

WCPSS CHEERLEADING COACHES PROGRAM FOR 2017-2018

  •  AACCA Online Certification (www.nfhslearn.com) is required for all cheer coaches (middle, J.V. and varsity). This is a 1 time requirement.
  • Safety Updates Class- Required each year for middle school coaches

 August 22, 2017 at Martin Middle at 4:00.

  • Cheerleading Coaching Class – 1 hour-Required for cheerleading coaches new to coaching cheer at a WCPSS school July 26, 4:00-5:00 PM at Crossroads 1, 5625 Dillard Drive, Cary Or August 22, 2017 at Martin Middle at 5:00 (following Safety Update Class)

1. CPR, First aid, AED training free (search eschools)

2. NFHS sudden cardiac arrest- Free (see above for link)

3. NFHS first Aid, health and safety $35 

4. NFHS Fundamentals of coaching $ 

5. NFHS heat illness prevention- free (see above for link)

6. CDC Heads up to youth Sports- free

Staff Volunteer Coaches-

All staff volunteers need to complete the sport specific trainings from above along with the WCPSS request for approval volunteer coach form from this link:

Volunteer Coaches- If you are interested in volunteering to help coach an athletic team please contact the coach of the sport first. They will then contact the Athletic Director and the process for approval can begin. No one is allowed to help with an athletic team until they are cleared by WCPSS Human Resources. We appreciate your willingness to volunteer your time our student athletes!
