Without some of their top runners participating due to the late summer heat, Coach Schneidewind's Cross Country teams still came out victorious against Wake Forest to stay undefeated this season in dual meets.
In their home opener, the Lady Wildcats captured five of the top seven finishes en route to the win, 21-38. Millbrook was led by senior, Kaylie Hinckley, and junior, Maya Celetti. Celetti was impressed with the way the Wildcats ran despite so many runners dropping out on both sides due to breathing issues.
"We did well as team today. Wake Forest has some good talent and I'm glad to see our girls starting to decrease the gap between our three and four runners"
In the men's race, Millbrook won 21-40. Juniors Tucker Cera, and Luke Gostling finished 1st and 2nd in the race.
"We knew that they weren't racing some of their top runners so we just made sure to pace our guys to perfect splits. Overall, there was some nice stuff that we did today as a team" said Gostling.
Two meets into the season, there has been noticeable improvement on both the varsity and JV levels. Tyler Trudeau, a senior was one of the runners that showed great improvement as he eclipsed his personal record by over one minute.
The next meet for the Wildcats comes on Friday night in Kernersville, NC. It is a night race and the team has high expectations as they will be running against some of the state's top talent. For more information, follow us on Twitter at @Millbrook_SBC.
