Millbrook’s Women’s Soccer team dispatched on Garner on Thursday night for its second win in as many nights, and its fifth in a row. Behind goals from four different scorers, the Wildcats topped the Trojans 4-1.
Throughout the contest, possession of the ball favored the Wildcats who out-shot Garner 19-3 in the contest. Much like Wednesday’s game, Alexis Strickland got Millbrook off and running with a goal in the opening fifteen minutes. The sophomore forward chipped a shot from atop the box, and watched it float over the outstretched hands of the keeper for the 1-0 lead.
Six minutes later, Gabby Sturla fanned on a shot, and the Garner clearing attempt slowly rolled towards Lauren Griffiths who with a full head of steam blasted a shot top-shelf for her second goal of the season.
Megan Proudfoot also registered her second tally of 2017 when she closed out the first half with a shot that ricocheted off of the crossbar, and down into the goal for the 3-0 advantage.
Millbrook put the match well out of hand in the 48th minute when Makaya Parham took a pass near the top of the box and maneuvered by a defender, striking the ball past the keeper in the process to close out the Wildcat offensive output with its fourth goal of the game. Parham, a freshman, now has goals in each of the last two games.
Garner chipped in to its deficit with a late tally on Wildcat keeper Erin Mulligan who made two stops in her 80 minutes played.
Millbrook moves to 5-0-1 on the season, and returns to action with its third straight home game on Monday evening at 6:30 PM vs. Broughton. The Wildcats will carry a 1-0 conference record into the match.
