WCPSS football teams competed in an intense week of conference match-ups. We saw many impressive scores on the night including Wake Forest and Heritage who continued their undefeated streak. For scores and updates on last week’s match-ups, read below!
Friday, October 17
Middle Creek def. Holly Springs, 55-14
Middle Creek earned their seventh straight win over Holly Springs last Friday night. The Mustangs nearly matched their season high points per game at fifty-five. Their overall record improves to 8-2 on the season while Holly Springs drops to 2-8.
Heritage def. Rolesville, 55-6
Heritage continued their impressive unbeaten streak last week with a dominating performance over Rolesville. The Husky defense allowed just six points on the night advancing their record to 10-0 on the season. Rolesville drops to 3-7.
Green Hope def. Jordan, 48-20
Green Hope has won five straight including last week’s performance, dominating Jordan by a twenty-eight-point margin. The Falcons advance to 8-2 on the season.
Athens Drive def. Panther Creek, 50-13
Athens Drive gained even more momentum last Friday night with a huge win over Panther Creek. This was their second straight win after suffering a loss a couple week ago. The team now sits at 6-4 on the season. Panther Creek will have one last chance to secure a win this week. They are scheduled to take on Green Hope at home.
Knightdale def. Corinth Holders, 42-19
Knightdale bounced back with a dominating performance over Corinth Holders last Friday night. The Knights scored a season high forty-two points on the night. Their overall records even out to 5-5.
Garner def. Apex, 48-0
Garner earned their fifth consecutive win over Apex last week. This was the Trojans first shut-out win of the season. Their record improves to 6-4 on the season while Apex drops to 3-7.
Wake Forest def. Wakefield, 56-0
Wake Forest remains undefeated for another week with a fifty-six-point shut-out victory over Wakefield. This was the third shut-out win for the Cougars. Wakefield for have one last chance at victory this week as they are scheduled to travel to Knightdale on Friday night.
Leesville Road def. Enloe, 33-6
Leesville Road earned another Cap 7 conference win last Friday night. The Pride defense held strong allowing only six points on the night. Their record advances to 7-4 on the season while Enloe drops to 4-6.
Apex Friendship def. Fuquay-Varina, 32-21
Apex Friendship gave a strong performance last week outscoring Fuquay-Varina by eleven points. The win improves their overall record to 5-5 while Fuquay drops to a game to sit at 6-4.
Sanderson def. Broughton, 59-7
Sanderson earned their second straight win after dropping one a couple weeks ago. The Spartan defense played well allowing just seven points on the night. The team advances their record to 7-3 on the season while Broughton drops to 2-8.
Cardinal Gibbons def. SRMHS, 52-12
SRMHS dropped another conference game to Cardinal Gibbons last Friday night. The team put twelve points on the board, however, they were unable to match Cardinal Gibbons’ fifty-two. Their record drops to 4-6 on the season.
Cary def. Riverside, 18-14
Cary gained some positive momentum last week with a four-point victory over Riverside. The Imps improve to 4-6 on the season with the win.
South Johnston def. East Wake, 20-6
East Wake suffered another conference loss last Friday night to South Johnston. The team was only able to score six points on the night which would not be enough prevail. Their record drops to 2-8 on the season.

WCPSS women’s golf teams competed in the NCHSAA State Championships on Monday, October 23 and Tuesday, October 24. Congratulations to Jenny Chang from Athens Drive High School who won her fourth consecutive state championship last week! For a complete list of results, click here!
