This webpage.  Once the team is selected, I will also set up a remind text app for students to subscribe to for latest updates and reminders.  So please bookmark this site.


To develop a successful Cross Country program (academically and athletically).  This will be accomplished by:

With this commitment come rewards.  My hope is all XC athletes experience personal growth as a runner and a student.

Meets 2016-17

  • SWAC meets are held on Wednesday:
    • August 31 @ Wake Med Soccer Park, 6 PM
    • September 14 @Bond  Park, 5 PM (MCHS Host)
    • September 28@Suggs Farm, 5 PM
    • October 5 @Suggs Farm, 5 PM
    • October 19, SWAC Championship, 5 PM, location TBD
    • October 29, Regional Meet, time/location TBD
  • Friday/Saturday meets – some will be for the entire team, others will be for varsity runners.  Athletes will be told in advance if they will be attending or not.
    • Friday, September 9, Friday Night Lights @State Course in Kernersville, this is an Early Release day.
    • Tentative – Adidas Wolfpack XC Challenge, September 17
    • Tentative – Pirate XC Invitational, @Lake Kristi in Greenville, September 24 
    • There will be other meets added.  Waiting on them to be added to Milesplit.   
    • Rule of thumb – keep all Saturdays in September and first few in October reserved for XC.

August 29, 2016 – First day of school.

  • Practice is 2:45-5 PM unless otherwise noted.  We will practice off site several times.  

Mandatory Tryouts and Practice – August 1, 2016, 7-9 AM

  • Tryouts are August 1-3.  Any athletes wanting to run for Middle Creek must attend all 3 days.
  • From August 1-18, practice will be 7-9 AM.  Athletes should be at practice every day.  We will also practice on Saturday at different locations.
  • We will not practice August 19th.
  • August 22-26 practice will be from either 2:45-5 or 6-8 PM.  I will make sure everyone knows once a decision is made.

Summer Workouts- July 11-15 and July 25-28, 2016

  • Not mandatory.    
  • You MUST have a current physical on file in order to participate – you can hand in on the first day you attend.
  • Meet at Middle Creek HS (at the back of the school’s football stadium entrance) on July 11.  A list of offsite locations will be provided at this time for the two weeks of workouts.
  • Practice is 7-9 AM.  Practice will end at 9 AM.  Please note, if we are running late, it will only be by a few minutes, as we do need to do core and stretch before practice ends.   
  • Weight room twice a week.  All athletes, if attending workouts and if they make the team, are expected to lift.  This is to build lean muscle mass, not bulk up.
  • All athletes are expected to run on their own prior to mandatory tryouts.
  • Cross Country camp is not required; however, it is a wonderful opportunity to train in the mountains.  You can find camp details and register at  The week MCHS XC runners are attending is Week 2 – July 17-22.


If you are planning on attending XC Camp, I have reserved Week 2, July 17-22, for MCHS XC.  Camp registration will open in February.  When you register, please identify yourself as attending as part of Middle Creek XC.  The web site is
Remember, attending camp is optional.  We will have summer workouts too.  More on that when we get closer to summer.
