Week 3 PH vs LR Under the Lights!

Under the lights of the LRHS football stadium Wednesday night, PH fought tooth and nail to get the victory over LR!  The final was PH 22-20. The win moves the Pilots to 3-0 on the season.

The PH White teams set the tone for the Pilots in 5th quarter by scoring two touchdowns and shutting out the LR 5th quarter team.  Andrew Miller caught a TD pass from Stephen Reynolds. Stephen connected with Caed Bouleris for another long completion and Matthew Lawrence finished the drive with a 5 yard touchdown run.

To start the game, the Pilots had a good drive going, but stalled around the 20.  The defense came out strong, but then gave up 2 long 4th down conversions and LR went up 8-0.  PH got the ball and drove down to tie the game with a TD run from DJ Scott and a successful 2-pt run from Grady Whitt.  The first half ended 8-8.

LR scored on a long run to start the second half.  The defense held strong on the 2-pt attempt, making the score 14-8.  The Pilots, again, fought back scoring on 4th and goal, with a pass from Grady to Wil Murray.  The TD tied the game at 14.

In the 4th quarter, the defense came up with a huge sack for a safety by Tyler Carlson giving PH a 16-14 lead.  After the free kick it took PH only two plays to score. Grady took a pass from Wil for a 28 yard TD, making the score 22-20.  LR scored again late, but failed to convert the 2-pt attempt, as Gavin Starr defended the pass. The stop sealed the 22-20 win for the Pilots!

The O-line for the Pilots made up of Tony Tayler, Aaron Mundra, Stephen Reynolds, Gabe Simpkins, and Even Feeney did a great job all game allowing the team to rush for over 100 yards and also throw for over 100 yards.  DJ Scott took advantage of the great blocking and also made several people miss him as he amassed over 100 total yards.

Defensively, the D line set the tone made up of Grady W, Tony T, Aaron M, Gabe S, Nate Irizarry, and Tyler C.  Combined they recorded 5 sacks in the game. Jacob Lail got another INT giving him 2 for the year.

All in all, it was a great win for a rising PH football program.  Thanks for all of the support from family and friends! Our next game is Thursday 10/18 @ West Millbrook 4:00pm.

Weeks 2 PH @ East Millbrook

The Pilots won again, moving to 2-0 on the season!  Grady Whitt started the scoring off with a 46 yard touchdown run on the opening drive.  The Pilots scored again just before half on a perfectly thrown ball from Wil Murray to Jack Short to increase their lead to 14-6.  In the second half, the offensive line opened up some running room and DJ Scott took advantage. DJ moved the ball all the way down the field and finished the drive with a touchdown, giving the Pilots a 21-6 lead.  Connor Hutchinson did a great job connecting on all three of his extra point attempts.

The defense played another great game holding East Millbrook to only 6 points.  Early in the second half the Pilots got pressure on the quarterback. Nate Irizarry got a sack and forced a fumble that Matthew Lawrence recovered for PH.  Jacob Lail sealed the game with an outstanding interception in the 4th quarter.

The Pilots face off against Leesville rd middle under the lights at LRHS next Wednesday at 6:30.

Thank you to all the families and friends that attended the game!

Week 1 PH @ Mills Park

The PH Football team played a great game and beat Mills Park 21-0.  The shutout is the first in School history! The Mills Park loss is the first loss they’ve had in three years!

The Pilots jumped out early with good blocking from the O-line and powerful running by Sam Lawson, as Sam scored on a 20 yard run.  On the next drive Wil Murray connected with Grady Whitt for a 44 yard touchdown pass. Wil then hit DJ Scott for a touchdown pass as time expired in the first half giving the Pilots a 21-0 going into half.

Sam Lawson also converted on a 2 point conversion, and Conner Hutchinson kicked an extra point.

The PH defense did a great job of keeping Mills Park out of the endzone.  Evan Feeney stopped a 4th down reverse early in the game to keep the momentum with PH.  The Pilots caused two turnovers in the second half to secure the win, with Gabe Simpkins and Brayden Rivenbark both recovering a fumble.  The Mills Park QB had no time to throw as Gabe, Brayden, and Aaron Mundra all recorded a sack.

This was an all around TEAM win!  Thanks to all the family and friends that traveled to support the Pilots!

Our next game is @ East Millbrook on Thursday 10/4.
