Enloe closed its season on Wednesday night, falling to unbeaten and nationally-ranked Leesville Road 6-0 at Len Bauer Memorial Stadium. The Eagles honored their seven seniors at halftime and had several quality scoring chances in the second half but couldn't crack Leesville, which finished the regular season 19-0-1.
Enloe finished 6-12-1 and 2-10 in the Cap-7. Eight of the 10 losses in conference play came by a single goal.
For the eighth time in Cap-7 play, Enloe dropped a one-goal decision on Monday night, falling 2-1 at Broughton.
Snigdha Sompalli scored in the 79th minute for Enloe on an assist from Courtney Eash. The Eagles got superb goal-keeping from Lauren Ferlito (8 saves) and Nancy Imoh (2 saves) despite the loss.
Courtney Eash and Ella Cifaldi each scored a pair of goals as Enloe got back on the winning track with a 9-0 win over Southeast Raleigh on Thursday.
The Eagles, who had lost four straight by a single goal, improved to 6-10-1 and overall and 2-8 in the Cap-7 Conference.
Enloe suffered another close loss on Wednesday night, falling to Cardinal Gibbons 2-1. Hannah Kaufman netted the lone goal for the Eagles in the first half and the teams went to the break tied at 1-1.
But the Crusaders struck late in the second half and held on for the Cap-7 victory.
Enloe fell for the fifth-straight game on Monday afternoon, losing 1-0 to Millbrook in a storm-shortened game. The Eagles have lost three straight games by a single goal in falling to 5-9-1 overall and 1-7 in the Cap-7.
Enloe lost another tight game on Wednesday night, falling 2-1 at Sanderson.
Snigdha Sompalli provided the only goal on the evening for the Eagles, giving Enloe a 1-0 lead at halftime. But Sanderson took advantage of a handball in the box and converted the penalty kick in the 47th minute. The Spartans then added the game-winner in the 50th minute.
Despite an inspired effort, Enloe dropped another close game on Thursday night, falling 1-0 in 2 OT against rival Broughton. Lauren Ferlito made seven saves for the the Eagles, who fell by a single goal for the third time in their last four games.
Enloe surrendered just a pair of goals in falling to unbeaten Leesville Road on Monday night. The defending Cap-7 champion Pride, unbeaten and nationally ranked 43rd by MaxPreps, improved to 12-0 and 6-0 in the conference.
Goalie Lauren Ferlito made eight saves for the Eagles, who fell to 5-6-1 overall and 1-4 in the Cap-7.
Cardinal Gibbons converted on a penalty kick in the 74th minute Thursday night, handing Enloe a tough 1-0 loss in Cap-7 action.
The Eagles had five shots on goal but couldn't crack through the Crusaders, falling to 5-5-1 overall and 1-3 in the Cap-7.
The Eagles earned their first Cap-7 victory of the season on Monday night, getting nine goals from nine different players in a 9-0 victory over Southeast Raleigh.
Glenna Ruslander led the way with a goal and two assists. Noa Hyson, Ramona Delborne, Kyra Koons, Courtney Eash, Ansley Brown, Hannah Kaufman and Grace Overton also added first-half goals -- with 6 of those goals coming the final 12 minutes of the half.
Hannah Buttafuso ended the game with a strike in the 43rd minute of play.
Enloe improved to 5-4-1 with the win and 1-2 in the Cap-7. The Eagles are back on the road Thursday night for a trip to Cardinal Gibbons. Game time is 6:30 pm.
Ramona Delborne (pictured) netted her team-leading 7th goal of the season helping the Eagles secure at 1-1 tie at Athens Drive on Thursday night.
Delborne scored in the 13th minute on an assist from Lillie Mollot. The Jaguars equalized in the 57th minute, but goalie Lauren Ferlito swatted away several Athens scoring attempts in the last 10 minutes to preserve the tie.
